It is recognised that the demand for housing outweighs the number of properties that are available throughout our districts.
We have worked hard to build relationships with the private landlords in our particular areas. Many are happy to work with us and regularly contact us if they have properties available. Many of these landlords are happy to take people who are in receipt of Housing Benefit.
Any private landlord that is willing to work with us, will receive a visit by an officer/member of staff to inspect that the property is of a ‘fit standard. Once we are happy with the property, we will then advertise the property on Home Choice Plus.
At the end of the advertising cycle, we will suppy a list of suitable applicants to the Landlord. The Landlord will then arrange to interview a number of applicants and make an offer to the applicant of their choice.
If you accept a private tenancy you can still remain on the Home Choice Plus, register and continue to bid for Council or Housing Association properties. You will need to be mindful that you will have signed a tenancy agreement, which would normally have an initial term of at least 6 months and you would need to give the relevant notice to end your tenancy. If you do not do this, you may be liable for the rent for the remaining period of your tenancy agreement.
If you are a private landlord that is currently working with us and you would like to include a photograph of your property, please email it to: -
