Home Choice Plus is the scheme used to allocate Housing Association properties across the participating Local Authority areas, which include:
The scheme gives applicants a single access point, meaning you only need to be registered once to 'Bid' on any of the vacancies advertised across any of the participating Local Authority Areas.
Social Housing is in great demand and often people can wait a long time before being allocated a property through Home Choice Plus. We recommend that before you register with Home Choice Plus, you complete the Housing Options Self Assessment which will provide you with alternative options to Social Housing. This may mean being housed sooner. You can also complete this assessment if you have already registered with Home Choice Plus. To complete this assessment, please click on the links below:

You may be able to move more quickly by exchanging your home with another social housing tenant. To register to swap your home, please click on the link below to visit Homeswapper, which is a national mutual exchange scheme where you can find other social housing tenants in your area and elsewhere who also want to move. This service is free for most social housing tenants in the Home Choice Plus partnership area, but please look up your landlord on the HomeSwapper website to confirm.
Applicants who have a more urgent need to move have been given higher priority on Home Choice Plus by being awarded the Gold Plus, Gold, Silver Plus and Silver bands. These applicants are expected to bid on all suitable properties that meet their housing need. If an applicant fails to bid on suitable properties or refuses the offer of a suitable property, then they may be placed in the Reduced Band (below Silver and above Bronze Plus). They will remain in this band for a period of 6 months and then be reviewed. Applicants can also request a review of the decision to award Reduced Band at any time by a Senior Housing Officer. There are also other reasons why an applicant might be placed in the Reduced Band which can be found within the Home Choice Policy document.
Different rules apply to applicants in Priority Band and they will be given further details by their Housing Officer.
